Race report
Crimson Advocate won this last year, with our multiople G1 winner Fallen Angel in behind running on for a place. This didn’t look quite such an elite field, but our new G2 winner Godspeed failed to get involved. Settled towards the rear – where all the placed horses came from in this stiffly run affair – she didn’t relish the hussle and bustle of a big field and her effort rather petered out. The winner, Blue Bolt, is likely to line up against Fallen Angel in some of the big filly G1 targets of the coming months and will be a worthy adversary.

Once known as the Windsor Forest Stakes and in existence since 2002, this is as good a mile race as Europe can muster for older fillies and mares – for all that it has not been afforded G1 status. Crimson Advocate, with James McDonald in the saddle sporting the gold cap of our second colours, won this last year, with Fallen Angel, our star grey mare, who has since won three consecutive G1 races, in third.
This year recent acquisition Godspeed lines up for Wathnan. Father-and-son training team Carlos and Yann Lerner handled her to win the 2025 running of the G2 Prix de Sandringham on French Derby day, and Godspeed warmed up for her Ascot bid with an agonisingly close second in a recent Listed event.
